He that buys land buys many stones.
He that buys flesh buys many bones.
He that buys eggs buys many shells,
But he that buys good beer buys nothing else

Hi Everyone, Thank you to Blake for getting our site running. This is a reminder to all who are entering the Session Challenge at our meeting on 2/12 at 7:00 pm, we will be judging BJCP catagory 11A,B,C, English mild, Southern English Brown and Northern English Brown. The winner will be entitled to enter the club only competition put on by the Impaling Alers. This person must have Three 12OZ. Brown bottles of the beer entered
with blacked out caps and no labels. I will provide the proper labels and form to submit for the competition.
Most important: The winner needs to submit a check for entry fee, so bring your check book.

There is an ancient Celtic axiom that says, "Good people drink good beer." Which is true then as now. Just look around you at any public bar room and you will quickly see: "Bad people drink bad beer." Think about it.
Hunter S. Thompson

I would like to thank the members of BREW for Being good people brewing good beer. Hunter would be proud.

Postby mjoyart@aol.com » Sun Mar 07, 2010 7:08 pm

Hi Everyone,

•First order of business from the Competition Coordinator is congratulations to Johnathon Powell for winning the Session Challenge Club Only Competition, put on by the Impaling Alers. Johnathon just put BREW on the map with the AHA. Way to go!

•Our next club only competition is American Ales, category 10 in the BJCP Style Guidelines, to be judged March 12th. Entries due to the club only competition April 3rd. Submit standard BJCP recipe form with three bottles labeled, a check for $7.00 made out to the AHA must be included and the winning entry will need to shipped to AHA COC c/o Olde Mecklenburg Brewing, 215 Southside, Dr., Charlotte, NC, 28217. The competition is hosted by Bill Lynch, more information at brewcnc@yahoo.com.

•The following club only competition is California Common to be judged at our June meeting. So get your Northern Brewer hops and get your Cal Common on.

•Tentatively we have the group brew set up for May 1st on Big Brew Day at Stan's house. We need to decided on a beer style and other issues involved with doing the Big Brew at Stan's. Possibly, our group brew could be one of the Beer Renegades offerings at Beerstock 5060-2.

•I have a list of people from the last meeting who tentatively committed to helping out with the National Homebrewers Conference Competition 1st round here in Seattle at Pyramid Brewing April 9th and/or 10th. And my list of people are as follows: El Presidente, John Grace, Normsky, Mike Shelbey, Carlos Bergueiro, Mark Tanner, Rich Servatius, Scott, Bargreen Ellington, John Powell, Chantz, Mark Joy, and Alison Sheafor-Joy.
Everyone who would like to help with the first round of the NHC needs to go to www.wahomebrewers.org and register.

•Washington Homebrewers Association invites members of BREW to attend an educational speaker program lecture given by Jess Caudilll of Wyeast Labratories. The event is Friday, March 26th at 7:00pm at Big Al Brewing in West Seatttle. Address: 9832 14th Avenue SW, Seattle, Washington, 98106, ph: 206-453-4487 More information available at www.wahomebrewers.org. RSVP online at http://tinyurl.com/wyeasttalk
Alison and I will be attending.

•Greater Everett Brewers Legue/GEBL is hosting a competition called "Hop Madness IPA Challenge" to be judged on May 22. We will have more information at the meeting or you can go to www.wahomebrewers.org.

•We will be bringing hop rhizomes from our TettHallerWill hop garden. They are ready to be planted so get your beds ready.

Alison and I have a fermentation lock symphony going at our house. 7 Carbouy's a bubblin, down from 10 last week. I'll be brewing Palo Santo Cask next week. Thanks to Mike Shelbey for sharing some of his Palo Santo Ale with Alison and I. Very Yummy!
See you all at the meeting March 12 at 7:00pm
Regards, Mark Joy
